Reclaimed in the Rockies

Reclaimed in the Rockies Reclaimed in the Rockies is our family’s way of caring for the Colorado forests.

We reclaim pine beetle-killed and mitigation-removed timber from the mountains around Black Hawk and transform it into art as well as canvas prints captured along the way.

Trying to leave the house this morning and someone does not want us to leave.

Today’s grouse encounter. Patiently waiting for arrival home and to leave the house again.

My favorite drop to date. All of these trees are being cut for fire egress. Electric saws get it done.

This might be a difficult week. Already the grouse is out this morning and we are only taking our kiddo to school.

Just got home, hadn’t even worked in the woods today. As we were trying to back into the garage, I look up and see this one gliding down from up the hill. It landed on top of the roof of the truck before jumping down and standing outside the garage as we closed the doors.

We spend our summers trying to give the forest a makeover and deal with the beetle infestation. But, without fail, a family of grouse pop up to give us the boot. It's a challenge to get everything done before they show up. And, let me tell you, even our quiet electric saws can't fool them - they always find us.
