Cherokee Trail Of Tears State Park This park was built as a memorial to the Cherokee Indians who were removed from their homeland and forced on their journey known as "The Trail of Tears".

Part of the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail, the park memorializes and educates visitors about the forced removal of Indigenous peoples, including the Cherokee and Muscogee (Creek) people.

As summer draws to a close we are reflecting on all the beauty this season brought us. One of the best gifts we received this summer was becoming a State Park! We were so grateful to be given the opportunity to celebrate this momentous occasion with so many of you.

Many thanks to the many Tribal representatives that joined us, with a special shout-out to the Remember the Removal Bike Riders. We are also grateful for the many community partners and members of state and local government who joined us.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners across the Department of Environment and Conservation, we are grateful for your support.
