Save this for your next White Mountains fall getaway. 🍁🚠

I just spent an afternoon at Bretton Woods riding the Skyway Gondola up to take in the fall foliage from above, and WOW!!

The views of the Presidential Range are incredible with the colorful foliage right now - and getting a bird’s-eye view of the iconic Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa is always a highlight for me. It was a clear day, and I could see the top of Mount Washington, which is always a treat!

I’d recommend pairing the gondola ride with lunch at Switchback Grille at the Rosebrook Lodge at the top of the mountain so you can make a full afternoon of it.

A few things to know before you go:

🚠 Check the operating schedule before heading over. The last ride is typically around 3:30pm.
💨 Gondola rides are weather dependent.
🍁 Peak foliage weekends can be busy, so plan ahead.
📸 Bring a camera (obviously!)
⛰️ Give yourself time to enjoy the views once you reach the top.

This is definitely going on my list of favorite ways to experience fall in New Hampshire - and it’s a must if you’re heading to the region this fall.

The Bretton Woods Skyway Gondola only runs until October 18 - so plan your visit soon! 🍂

The ultimate fall getaway to Stowe, Vermont ✨🍁

I know, I know, everyone heads to Stowe this time of year - but that’s because it truly is worth it! It’s peak season in the destination, so expect crowds for sure - but with a little planning, you can absolutely have an amazing visit to Stowe in the fall.

Here are some of my favorite things to do to make the most of your trip!

🍎 Enjoy a “Crushie” (c***r slurpee & maple creemee with a c***r donut) at Cold Hollow C***r Mill (***rmillvt)

🚠Ride the Stowe gondola up Mount Mansfield for sweeping fall views

👻 Visit the historic (and supposedly haunted!) Emily’s Bridge, one of the prettiest covered bridges in the area

☕️ Grab a maple latte and a pastry (the churro morning buns and cinnamon rolls are both incredible!) from Black Cap Coffee ()

🍂 Take a stroll (or bike ride!) along the scenic Stowe Recreation Path

⛰️ Stay over at The Lodge at Spruce Peak () - the perfect home base for your fall escape

🐶 Head to Golden Dog Farm () in nearby Jefferson for one of their iconic “Golden Retriever Experiences” to play with the sweetest pups

🍁 Make the drive to the Mad River Valley to ride the single chair at Mad River Glen (), one of only two single chairs left in operation in the US

🐮 Meet the Highland cow herd at Trapp Family Lodge () and toast the season with a pint at von Trapp Brewing ()

Photos from one of my favorite scenic drives in New Hampshire! 🍁🍂

A designated scenic byway, the 34.5 mile Kancamagus Highway in the White Mountains is one of my favorite leaf-peeping destinations in the fall, and colors should be peaking within the next few weeks! (*Photos from years past)

The highway cuts straight through the White Mountain National Forest, with tons of pull offs for scenic vistas and trail heads, reaching 2,855 feet in elevation.

A few of my favorite stops along the Kanc:

🍁 Albany Covered Bridge
🍁 Lower Falls Scenic Area
🍁 Rocky Gorge Scenic Area
🍁 Sabaday Falls (requires a .5 mile hike to get to the falls)
🍁 Sugar Hill Scenic Overlook
🍁 Hancock Overlook at the hair-pin turn
🍁 Lincoln Woods
🍁 Loon Mountain

What to know before you go:

🔸 Go on a weekday if you can. The area is very popular in the fall, so expect traffic, especially on weekends.

🔸 If doing the drive in the morning, I recommend leaving as early as possible and driving from Conway toward Lincoln (east to west) so the morning sun is behind you. I also find the traffic to be slightly less going that direction.

🔸There are no stops for food or gas on the Kanc. Make sure your tank is full, and bring water & snacks (it’s carry in/carry out – make sure to leave no trace!). Leashed pups are allowed.

🔸Most of the scenic areas have small parking lots, which require a $5 pass good for the day. Pick one up at the Ranger Station, or bring $5 cash (exact change) and use one of the self-serve envelopes.

🔸Many of the stops offer porta-potty type bathrooms. Bring hand sanitizer, as most don’t have running water.

🔸You will likely not have cell service on the highway. Most pull off areas are well-marked, but it’s a good idea to download a map that you can access without internet. Make sure your playlist is downloaded on your phone and tell friends/family you’ll be offline for a while!

🕰 Step back in time: Experience living history at in Plymouth and travel back to the site of the first Thanksgiving.

🏈 Football & fall: Cheer on the Pats at in Foxboro and soak in the fall football spirit!

🎃 Berkshires magic: Check out the Incredible Naumkeag Pumpkin Show at in Stockbridge, and stay over at for cozy fall vibes.
