Today we say goodbye to our Frank C. Perham memorial case, and with it, an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable legacy of one of western Maine’s most influential pegmatite miners. We are deeply grateful to the collectors and donors who generously loaned specimens to help bring that exhibit to life.

In its place is a new exhibit exploring the Emmons Pegmatite of Greenwood, Maine the most species-rich pegmatite known in the world, with more than 240 identified mineral species and counting.

The exhibit highlights the geology, history, and ongoing research at this extraordinary locality, including the work of our Experimental Chemist and Researcher, Alexander Falster, whose studies continue to reveal new discoveries.

We hope you take the time to visit the new exhibit!
