A little bit of the cosmos, made by hand!

Back on August 8th, we had a great time at Art at the MMGM: Creating a Swirling Nebula Using Minerals with artist Posey Moulton.

Participants used Maine minerals, mica powders, paint, rope, netting, and all kinds of other materials to create their own nebula-inspired shadowboxes.

We loved seeing how differently everyone interpreted the idea of a nebula. Thanks to everyone who joined us, and to Posey for helping us bring a little art and astronomy together at the Museum!

THIS is the horsepower we need to keep research alive at Emmons. How do we know this? Because Al tried moving the massive pileup of waste rock and debris with his bare hands (and a wagon) — after a day of work, we couldn't even tell the difference!

The new backhoe will provide the horsepower needed to move that rock, open new areas for exploration and keep discoveries coming.

Now, this hardworking new member of MMGM’s research team needs a name. Will you be the one to name it?
