September is shaping up to be a great month at Peel Museum & Botanical Garden! 🌿

Every Saturday, stop by our Discovery Table to get an up-close look at objects from the Peel collection that normally aren’t on display.

Looking for a fun night out? Date Night in the Garden: BYOV lets you and a partner or friend harvest flowers straight from the Peel gardens, create your own arrangement, and take it home with you.

There’s even more happening this month, including:

From Orchard to Glass: Bentonville’s Apple History
Before the Settlers, a lecture with MONAH
Storytelling Through Photography with photographer Scotti Moody
September Mobility Classes

Come learn something new, get creative, or just spend a little more time at Peel this September.

Last night, we hosted a free Seed Collecting event at Peel Museum & Botanical Garden! Guests harvested seeds straight from our gardens to take home and plant, so next spring, their gardens can bloom with a little piece of Peel. 🌱

Free community events like this are made possible by the amazing supporters of the Peel Compton Foundation. Thank you for helping us connect our community through nature, education, recreation, and preservation!

Right in our lawn, we uncovered this sad iron!

Before modern electric irons became common in the 1920’s heavy cast iron tools like this one were heated in a stove and used to press clothing.

This particular sad iron weighs 8 pounds and was produced by the W.H Howell Company of Geneva, Illinois.

It’s a significant find that gives us another glimpse into everyday life from the museum’s past!

Preservation is an important part of Peel Museum’s mission, and sometimes that work comes down to the smallest details.

Our dining room chairs were recently re-caned by Wicker Fixer and Chair Re-Caner in Ozark, Missouri.

Chair caning is a rare and specialized craft, and we’re incredibly thankful for the skill and care they brought to these historic pieces.

Visit Peel Museum to see the beautifully restored chairs for yourself!
