Today’s the Day - Benton Vs Bryant Salt Bowl!
Wednesday I was visited by Whitney Thomas Morning reporter from Ch. 4/16 at my studio. Whitney was traveling through Saline County recording interviews about our Salt Bowl. I didn’t make the final news but it made for a fun experience. A beautiful enthusiastic young lady creating awesome recordings. My morning coffee wouldn’t be complete without ch16 news.

I’m painting on the Saline Courier Mural today and adding real news articles from the past 150 years.
Need a little help.
Who remembers the location of the Benton Twin Cinema in the Plaza Shopping Center?
Also the Drive in Theater - I remember going but can’t think of the location. Was it at the end of Military somewhere around Lakeview?

Courier mural update: the last steps are adding real photo images of ads and articles from the past 150 years. Viewers hopefully will be able to read the images. Oh my! sooo many I like but will have to narrow them down. I recognize a lot of the names and events - it just hit me I have lived over half the 150 years. 😵 I will be incorporating the art of decoupage to adhere images to the mural and working with UV sealers to prevent fading. Thanks for your interest in the project and The Courier’s patience as I work between my teaching and mural.
If you spread photo out you may be able to read the movies and actors from the theaters. FB sometimes blurs the words.

Researching 150 years of The Benton Courier I have fallen into a rabbit hole of newspapers past.
I ran across this July 12, 1945 Courier During the war years and found my father’s name in the list. Comment if you find a family member or friend. Spread it out larger hope you can read it.
