Laumeister Art Center

Laumeister Art Center World class art, theatre, music and so much more, in the tranquil setting of Bennington, Vermont.

The Laumeister Art Center is a comprehensive arts center featuring multiple galleries, permanent Native American exhibits, a Covered Bridge Museum, art studios and a 315-seat proscenium theater. Located within 30 minutes of Troy, New York; Williamstown, Massachusetts; and Manchester, Vermont, and just two miles from Bennington's scenic Main Street, the Laumeister Art Center is in an ideal l

ocation that makes it easy for New England residents and visitors to explore and enjoy the natural and cultural arts in Southern Vermont. On December 11, 2017, Southern Vermont College accepted the donation of the center, offered by Bruce Laumeister and Elizabeth Small. Bruce, Elizabeth, Shirley and the entire staff have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many wonderful artists and patrons and have truly appreciated the support over the past 24 years.

Floyd’s November carving seminar came to a close today. Here is a selection of photographs taken a few days ago, as well as this morning as students were putting the final touches on their life-size barn owls. Not one looked the same as the other; some ended up on tall tree stumps, some with barbed wire, others had a mouse hiding below. As always, an incredible journey from start to finish. We look forward to seeing Floyd and his next class in the spring!!
