Landscape impressionism oil paintings of the high desert and red rock country, out of Bend, Oregon. Raina Verhey is an oil painter working out of Bend, Oregon.

Her body of work focuses on high desert swells, sage brush and red rock canyons, with the occasional deep forest view. A painter for five years, Verhey has moved from deeply abstract to impressionistic landscape styles, incorporating her love for the Southwest into her daily practice. All paintings are sourced from photographs, sketches and plein airs taken in the backcountry of America, where she

lives and travels several months out of the year. Verhey’s work seeks to connect to the Spirit that holds the land and us along with it. Her pieces are intended to be a vessel, to hold space for the raw, the rugged, the honest, the gutural, the genuine of life and humanity. In addition to a seasonally updated collection of original work, Raina Verhey also offers an array of fine art prints and cards.

Today marks the beginning of Art in the High Desert at Riverbend Park 5-8 !

I am bringing all the work from my summer collection “Unto The Rising Path.” Come see them in person! This collection is named and titled after the small acts of courage that direct a life. Reaching the end of your strength and continuing on, leaning on the power that carries and guides as we grow to be able to bear up under the path of the lives we want to lead and the people we want to be. Lots of mountains!

Boy howdy - it’s been a month and it’s already gone. Daily crick dips, hanging with my dog, going gollum mode for reference photos, eating loads of Boundless Farmstead tomatoes, being a big boring nerd, listening to the new recordings of the Harry Potter books after months of being worn down my my dad and matt about how good they are, tea time with my hon in the morning and late night painting sessions under the moon. There is the run down.

Working hard to get a boat load of awesome mountain and central oregon paintings done for Art in the High Desert ! So thrilled to be a part of the event this year.

Three new paintings just hit the website, that’s all I’ll do for a summer drop this year so go check em out!!

Had a good time on the road, never nearly long enough but always packed full. Somehow I got salt cured and sun kissed to my hearts content all in the same two weeks. Got lots of exciting references, drank a s**t load of coffee, ran up every rock face and canyon I could get my eyes on. Now home and working for the two biggest events of my career so far. First up, a billion paintings… next up, a billion more.

A post dedicated to my coffee set up. Sunrise coffee pours after cold nights are the heart beat to my painting hunts. Big thanks to for this epic carry case that has significantly impacted my coffee carry ease. What used to be a sam gamgee bustling around with pots and pans and loose filters has become… still Samwise core but with a little more stealth… pipe to***co carried neatly next to coffee filters.

Anyhow. No body paint the scene behind me or else I’ll have to smack ya over the noggin with a pan. 👀 ENJOY. Painting coming soon, in its own weird way.
