Headwaters Science Center A hands-on Science Center featuring exhibits, live animals and a unique gift shop HSC is dedicated to science education and environmental awareness.

Located in downtown Bemidji, Minnesota, Headwaters Science Center is a non-profit facility under a parent organization called Opportunities in Science, Inc. It features hands-on exhibits, a live animal collection and special events and science programs and demonstrations. Shopping is available at a unique gift shop featuring science toys and gifts. Rainbow Trout Release Day!

As part of the Minnesota Trout in the Classroom Program, we received trout eggs in January to raise here at the Headwaters Science Center. This program is designed to release trout into the wild once they reach fingerling size. The eggs we received hatched in February. And as of last week, they were about 3 inches long and ready for release.

On Friday the 22nd, several staff members worked together to successfully release the rainbow trout into the Clearwater River.

Thank you Devin, Christian, Lisa, James, and Sue for working so hard to make this happen!

Stop in a meet our new ferrets: Artie (gray and white male), Howie (albino male), Espe (dark colored female). They are available to the public 10AM-12N and 2:15-4:15PM daily. Aren't they so snuggly? Ferrets sleep about 18 hours a day, and sleep in piles to help provide warmth, comfort, and security.
