Another photo from the way back machine.
Looking west along the Beech Creek stream in Orviston after the 1936 St. Patrick’s day flood waters had receded. The stranded NYC RR steam engine powered train awaits track clearance to return East to Avis.
The tree post blocking the view towards the now long gone Orviston grade school is the original locust post flag pole. Later repairs to the creek bank were made with a stone wall that is still in place in much of that area. Other than water in the cellar and damage to the brick sidewalk and entrance stairs,there was not much damage to the interior of the school house.
