A special thank you to Stephen Clark, Superintendent of the Flight 93 Memorial, who came to speak at Kinton’s K**b Saturday for a talk orchestrated by the Fort Bedford Museum. The crown was wrapt in attention and moved by the powerful images and memories.

We want to remind everyone about our upcoming Conversations & Commemorations event featuring Stephen Clark, Superintendent of the Flight 93 National Memorial. This Saturday, August 29th, at the Bedford County Historical Society at 1 PM.

As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we invite our community to join us as we remember and honor the lives lost on that tragic day and hear the story of the brave passengers and crew of United Flight 93.

This will be an important opportunity to reflect, remember, and ensure that the stories of those who made the ultimate sacrifice are never forgotten.

An interesting site in our county to visit and learn about.

Did you know Civil War defensive trenches still exist in Bedford County, roughly 80 miles west of Gettysburg? Dug by local militia in June 1863 to defend against a potential Confederate invasion, these often-overlooked earthworks preserve a fascinating chapter of Pennsylvania’s role in the Gettysburg Campaign.

It was a banner day for history as Bedford County celebrated America’s 250th Birthday with a parade in downtown Bedford. The BCHS and other organizations were out in a patriotic force of all ages.
Thanks to all who participated or celebrated!🦅🇺🇸

UPDATE - The America250PA - Bedford County Parade Update - Scheduled for this Sunday, August 2nd starting at the Bedford County Fair in PA has been moved to next Sunday, Aug. 9 due to the forecast if significant rain. Thank you for your understanding. Hope to see you next week!

Speaker Series 2026 Announcement for August 22, Sat. 1:00 to 2:30 PM at the Bedford Historical County Historical Society. Join superintendent Stephen Clark of Flight 93 National Memorial for a compelling presentation commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2011, reflecting on the events of that tragic day. Superintendent Clark will share the remarkable story of Flight 93, the heroism of its passengers and crew and the evolution of the national Memorial over the Past quarter century.
The event is free to the public and refreshments will be served.
