Beaver County train enthusiasts & historians remember seeing this
locomotive traveling the rails.

Here is P&LE Locomotive #1501 sporting Bicentennial colors as it crosses into Beaver in May of 1976.

Painted in black & gold again, P&LE #1501 completed its last passenger commuter run on July 12, 1986.

In celebration of the America250 coast-to-coast journey of Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 steam locomotive through Beaver County, PA, we’ve pulled a fantastic piece of ephemera from our files! This 8-panel foldout brochure provides a look at the Pennsylvania Railroad (Norfolk Southern predecessor) Conway Yard as the “World’s Largest Push-Button Yard”. Completed in 1957, the PRR touts a $35M post WWII investment in automated rail car classification in the strategic Conway location.
