We are open to the public - Mon-Sat 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The Air Heritage Museum features aircraft that are airworthy, ones that are in the process of being restored, and permanent static displays. Our airworthy aircraft are often seen at air shows throughout surrounding eastern and midwestern states. The following are the aircraft that are currently at our museum:
AIRWORTHY:
* Fairchild C-123
K Provider “Thunder Pig” ~ This Vietnam Era military transport plane is believed to be the last one still flying.
* Douglas C-47B Skytrain "Luck of the Irish" ~ This historic airplane participated in the Battle of the Bulge and is one of only three airplanes that was used to drop the military newsletter 'Stars and Stripes' to the troops.
* Piper Super Cub L-21B Seneca ~ This airplane was lent by the United States to Italy and served in the Italy Army as part of the "Lend/Lease Program." It is currently painted in the colors of the Italy Military.
* 1959 Cessna 150 ~ This airplane was donated by West Virginia University. They used it for testing experimental alcohol based fuel. CURRENTLY UNDER RESTORATION:
* North American T-28B Trojan - This trainer was built in the early 1950s.
* Fairchild F24 Forwarder “Maggie’s Pride” ~ This aircraft was produced by Kreider-Riesner Aircraft in Hagerstown, Maryland from 1932 to 1948.
* 1946 Funk Model B-75-L ~ This aircraft was originally manufactured during the 1930s. STATIC DISPLAYS:
* McDonnell Douglas F-15A Eagle ~ This airplane was used by the United States Air Force in the 1970s, the 1980s, and during Desert Storm.
* McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom II - This air fighter was used by the Air Force, the Navy, and the Marines. It was produced from 1958 to 1981.
* Short Brothers Sherpa C-23B ~ This airplane was made in Ireland and it was capable of takeoffs and landings on unpaved surfaces. It was produced from 1984 to 1990 and is one of sixteen built.
* Textron Bell UH-1 Iroquois Helicopter ~ The Iroquois was originally designated HU-1, hence the Huey nickname. It was produced as a medical evacuation and utility helicopter from 1956 to 1987. There are six on display at the museum. BAC Jet Provost T-3 ~ It was produced from 1955 to 1993. It is one of two hundred and one built. IN STORAGE:
* Beechcraft T-34 Mentor ~ is a propeller-driven, single-engine, military training aircraft derived from the Beechcraft Model 35 Bonanza. The earlier models of the T-34 were piston-driven, but the later model T-34C’s were powered by a turboprop engine. They were first produced in 1953.
* Fairchild F-24D - This aircraft was designed by the Fairchild Aviation Corporation in the 1930s. The last "new" Fairchild 24 was assembled in 1948 from a large inventory of leftover parts in Winfield, Kansas. There were only ten F-24"D" models built and this is the last remaining airplane.
