We could BEARly stand all the fun we had at this week’s bear workshop! Participants learned about the different types of bears, which live in Southeast Texas, what they eat and how they play. Our visitors even got to “Be a Bear” during a foraging simulator activity. 🐻

If you missed that one, don’t forget we have another fun, interactive workshop happening THIS Sunday for Museum Madness. Participants will learn about owls and get to dissect an owl pellet (with gloves, of course) to discover what our feathered friends have been eating. 🦉

It’s not too late to sign up, and preregistration is required. We hooooooope to see you there! 🪶

Today’s ribbon cutting at the NEW Rotary Pollinator Garden was a huge success! So many community members came out to celebrate this wonderful new addition to our garden.

Beaumont is BUZZING with so many amazing events.

Today we celebrated the ribbon cutting at the new Rotary Pollinator Garden at the Tyrrell Park Nature and Visitor Center, in partnership with the Spindletop Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Beaumont, supported by Visit Beaumont, TX and the City of Beaumont.

Pollinator gardens are increasingly important to our community and ecosystem, as bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators help to keep our flowers and plants growing and thriving. This new garden will serve as a feeding and resting spot for our fluttering friends as they do service to keep Beaumont green. 💚

Come on by and check out our new gardens as well as a few others around the property.

Don’t forget, tomorrow is the day! Join us for this FREE interactive workshop for the whole family.

Did you even know Texas has state symbols? Can you name the state bird? We can give you a hint: it’s not the eagle. If you don’t know the answer, come out on Saturday, September 19 from 10 am- 1 pm to find out what our state bird is along with more cool facts and hands-on activities.

PS— we tried to get a real longhorn but the boss said NO. 🐂

We're just 3 days away from our "out of this world" experience, the annual Tyrrell Park Nature and Visitor Center Star Party! 💫

Please join us Friday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m. as we look to the skies for a little astrological discovery, fun talks about our solar system and more. As the sun goes down, the fun will heat up.

Partners joining us will be the Astronomical Society of Southeast Texas (ASSET), Beaumont Children's Museum, Big Thicket National Preserve, Lamar Institute of Technology, Sabine Neches Chapter, Texas Master Naturalist, and Village Creek State Park - Texas Parks and Wildlife. We will have telescopes on hand for curious explorers to use, and you're also welcome to bring your own. Parking will be available onsite (please follow directional signage), and our gift shop will be open.

For the best experience, dress comfortably for the weather and being outdoors (bug spray is encouraged), bring your lawn chairs, water bottles, and a red-light flashlight. We can't wait to see you all on Friday as we make this another stellar event!
