Thibault Gallery proudly congratulates artist Tatiana Tatum for receiving “Best of Show” for her oil painting titled “Local Species.”

Lowcountry mermaids don’t sing siren songs perched on distant rocks.
They rest in the pluff mud—peaceful and meditative—moving at the same unhurried rhythm as life in the Lowcountry.

This striking painting celebrates women who are deeply connected with nature and belong to the marsh itself. Women of water and earth, soaking in the tide and basking in the warmth of the setting sun. Their tails are inspired by the beautiful local fish, the red drum, tying the mystical scene to the natural beauty of our coastal home.

We are delighted to feature 11-year-old violinist Samantha Yang, who will be performing live throughout the evening. Sip on wine and enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres while watching artist Emrie Rose create a live painting right before your eyes.

"Samatha Yang is 11 years old and a native of Vienna, VA. She has been playing the violin for the past 6 years. Last December, Samantha participated in the South Carolina Region 5 (Charleston) Orchestra, and she was recently selected to participate in South Carolina's All-State Orchestra in February 2026. She is a student at the Ami Rabinowitz Music Studio in Beaufort, SC."
