Beattie Museum

I want to thank everyone that came to the Museum this past weekend. We had a large number to come and enjoy the history of Beattie. I heard so many say they want to come back and spend more time looking and reading about their friends or relatives of Beattie that are available to look up.
I was a little concerned that as humid and hot as it was that we maybe low in numbers to come out and visit the museum. I couldn’t have been more pleased that so many came.
We are planning on the 3rd Sunday of each month to be open from 10 to 1. If a holiday comes on that Sunday we may not open. I will sure and keep everyone posted to the best I can.
If you are in the Beattie area other than the 3rd Sunday give me a call or text me and I will do my best to have someone open the Museum for you.

Another sidewalk art at the Beattie Museum.
Vivian is welcoming everyone to come on in and check what’s taking place inside.
Just keep in mind tomorrow will be open at 5 to 7 pm.
Saturday 10 to 1pm.

Time is getting closer for the Beattie Museum to open at their new location. As you can see we have a young artist in Beattie that is displaying her talent. Vivian Olmsted is helping to get the message out to come and see for yourself the excitement that is taking place.
Thank you so much Vivian for the sidewalk art work it is Awesome.
She said there maybe another on the front sidewalk. Can’t wait to see it, if she has time.

We are excited that things are coming together to finally have visitors at the Museum.
Put the date and times we are going be open at the Milo Festival on the brick bulletin area.
I’m sure everyone has seen I put Saturday first then Friday. That’s just me I’m backwards a lot.

As you can see we have a Ramp on the northeast corner of the Museum
So if steps are a problem as there are in the front, the ramp is available.
Also we have a chairlift to get form one level to the other inside.
August the 14th and 15th the Museum will be open for people to come and check the out the new location and bring back memories of Beattie and its History
The 14th Friday night open 5 to 7 pm
15th Saturday open 10 am to 1??

Wanted to share with you that the Museum is progressing.
With the photo of my wife, she wanted everyone to know that the chairlift works great.
To be honest I was a little nervous to take Linda in and take a tour.
I used her as a guinea pig to see how a wheelchair and using the chairlift would work.
She said it was a great tour and everything worked good to get around. She also made comment that there has been a lot of work done, but she said you have a lot to do yet. Made me laugh, all I could say was yes Dear.
Opening date for the Museum will be not to far from now. Hopefully the Milo Fest. but don’t hold me to it.
That’s our goal.

I am sure that some are thinking that the new Museum has a lot of steps.
And you are right, but I feel we have a very good solution for that problem.
If you didn’t know there is a ramp on the north east corner that will get you up to the main floor. It is a long ramp but is a very good one. Then for you to go to the basement as you can see in the picture we have a chairlift.
Also if you can go down the few steps to the basement when you come in the south basement door you can ride the lift upstairs to the main floor.
So no worries for getting around in the new site for the Beattie Museum.
We also have a wheelchair if needed.
We are making progress but opening date in the future still.

Update on the Museum’s mysterious time capsule.
As you can see we haven’t found it yet.
Looking over the area and as you see in the picture, all we found was nails, screws, ball pean hammer head and over small metal pieces.
The process of getting shelves built, hanging things up and getting organized is taking time.
Will keep you updated on and opening date, but for now we will not be open for a while yet.

The Museum is staying busy getting displays sorted out and putting in areas where they work the best.
One thing that has been a big improvement is we have acquired a chairlift. Gives us the option to get people from the main floor to the basement if stairs are a problem for you.
As you can see it works great and is safer for everyone.
What is amazing is as you are riding up or down you can check out the different carpet on each step.
