Art League of Baytown The Art League of Baytown has an exceptional art gallery and center where artwork by local members is on display for sale. Our venue is also available for rent.

We also hold art shows/competitions, classes and workshops and a summer art camp. Art League of Baytown was organized in 1954 and incorporated as a Texas non-profit corporation in 1963. Meetings were held in members' homes and shows were presented in any space that could be negotiated. In 2008, with the generous support of the City of Baytown, the Art League acquired its home at 110 W. Texas Ave. and called it the Art Center of Baytown. The art center was originally a F.W. Woolworth Co. building built in the 1920s on bustling Texas Avenue in Goose Creek, which was incorporated in 1948 into Baytown. Some of Woolworth's old architecture can still be seen in the art center, especially upstairs. Meetings

Membership meetings are held at 2 p.m. the third Sunday of the month September-May. The meetings usually include an art demo and are free to the public. Mission

The mission of the Art League of Baytown is to foster creativity through education, conservation, connection and scholarship through innovation and equity within the arts to cultivate an inclusive and vibrant community. Classes/Workshops

We have weekly art classes for adults; weekly art classes for special needs adults, ages 22 and up; monthly art workshops for the Breast Cancer Support Group at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital; Summer Youth Art Camp for children, ages 7 - 12; monthly Make and Take Workshops (no experience necessary); and more advanced art workshops throughout the year. Exhibitions/Competitions

An annual spring art competition for members; an annual LSAG Regional Qualifier (competition to qualify for the annual Lone Star Art Guild convention and competition); the annual Upcycle Art Challenge (art competition featuring art created from recycled materials); 3-4 themed POP Shows throughout the year; exhibitions by special guests/ guest organizations; and more. Art for Sale

Members rent wall and shelving space inside the gallery to exhibit their artwork for sale throughout the year. We have the artwork of over a dozen local artists and in November and December when we hold our Christmas Gift Gallery, we have over 20 local artists showing their artwork and crafts for sale. Venue Rental

The classroom and gallery spaces are available to rent for private parties, events and meetings. The Art League of Baytown, Incorporated is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We are a member of the Lone Star Art Guild, the Baytown Chamber of Commerce, and Historic Baytown’s Art, Culture, and Entertainment Council.

VENDOR APPLICATION NOW OPEN!

The Art League of Baytown is looking for local vendors to participate in our markets at the Art League of Baytown.

In an effort to support local businesses, makers, and artists (and to provide more variety to our holiday shoppers), we are hosting a series of 4 indoor markets October through December (details below). This is our first year hosting this series of markets, and our second year hosting the Jingle and Mingle Market. However, this will be the 74th year that the Art League of Baytown has been hosting its Holiday Gift Gallery. So, the community is very used to shopping for gifts at the Art League.

These markets focus on items that make good holiday gifts, holiday décor, or general home/business décor. These are juried markets so that we can maintain variety for our shoppers with as few duplicates as possible. So not all applicants will be accepted.

We are accepting a variety of different kinds of vendors; however, we will not accept food vendors, MLMs, or resale vendors. We will prioritize artists and handmade vendors, but they will not be the only vendors we accept.

To apply, please fill out the application form at:
https://form.jotform.com/262701642113143

You can apply for up to 2 of the 4 markets. We will let you know as soon as possible if you have been accepted and will email you an invoice to pay online.

Thank you for your interest in participating in our markets!

What a crazy, busy, fun craft day we had at the Nurture Nature Festival today thanks to our Port Houston Community Grant! We had at least 900 kids and parents come to our tents and they painted rocks, bird feeders, boats, snakes, puzzles, made animal legos, colored a large nature table cover and picked out cool insect, birds and ship stickers. The Port Houston’s grant allowed the Art League to purchase all the supplies for today and everyone had a great time. They were very creative! A special thanks to all the REL NHS art class students of teacher Melissa Rangel who came out and volunteered all day, and all the Art League members who came out to help too! Thanks to the City of Baytown Parks department for all the help they gave us and for putting on this festival!

The Art League of Baytown proudly announces the opening of the “Art and the Ship Channel” exhibit today !
We were very honored to receive a Port Houston Community Grant of $7200 recently. This grant allows us to bring 47 talented artists to Baytown and share 77 depictions of nature and industry coexisting together in our community within a 3 mile limit of the Houston Ship Channel. The show runs until October 30, 110 W. Texas Ave. Hours are Thursdays and Fridays, 11-5PM and Saturdays, 11-7PM.
If you are bringing the family out to the Baytown Nature Center‘s Nurture Nature festival today, be sure to visit the Art League booth and bring the kids by to enjoy several fun arts and crafts projects that have been sponsored by this grant.
