Louisiana Music Hall of Fame Provides Update on Founder Mike Shepherd
The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and the Shepherd family would like to thank the countless friends, artists, and supporters who have reached out with prayers, encouragement, and expressions of love for Mike Shepherd.
After much prayer and careful consideration with his family and medical team, Mike has entered hospice care and is being kept as comfortable as possible. While he continues to fight with the same quiet strength and determination that has defined his life, he is experiencing a significant decline in his health.
For decades, Mike dedicated his life to preserving Louisiana’s rich musical heritage. He never sought recognition for himself, choosing instead to shine the spotlight on the artists, songwriters, and musicians who make our state so special. His passion, generosity, and unwavering belief in others have left an imprint that reaches far beyond the music community.
Those who know Mike also know that he has always been a private man. In that same spirit, the family asks that everyone remember him as the tireless advocate, mentor, and friend who devoted his life to lifting others up, while also respecting his privacy during this deeply personal time.
Mike’s family has been blessed to spend these precious moments by his side, ensuring that he is surrounded by love, comfort, and familiar faces. They ask for continued prayers not only for Mike, but for everyone whose life has been touched by his kindness and his remarkable legacy.
Many friends have asked how they can help during this difficult time. Mike’s final arrangements have already been taken care of. Any support received will simply help his family remain by his side throughout hospice and his final days, so that he is never alone and always has someone there to love him, comfort him, and advocate for his care.
