Our members are trained in educational techniques/strategies. We are trained in the techniques of the National Association of Interpreters (NAI). The NAI training is used by the National Park Services employees, state and local ecological parks, state and local historical homes and sites to improve their interactions with the public. 80% of our members have taught at the elementary, junior high, senior high, or college level. We have presented for the National Park Service Antietam Battlefield (Sharpsburg, MD), the National Museum for Civil War Medicine (Frederick, MD), the Old State Capitol Medical Conference (Springfield, IL), DuSable Museum of African American History (Chicago, Illinois) Chicago History Museum (Chicago, Illinois), the Midwest Civil War Museum (Kenosha, WI) City of Marietta, Georgia, and City of Newnan, Georgia. In addition, we present both Union and Confederate medical personnel at 16 weekend events per year in Illinois and Wisconsin for over 10 years as an organization. We are members of the Society of Civil War Surgeons, the national organization of Civil War Medical Interpreters. We have presented at their national conference and have a member of the Board of Directors in our organization. Our members write for civil war publications. These publications include The Civil War Courier, Camp Chase Gazette, and Citizen’s Companion. As a group, our members have over 10 years of publishing articles.
