Virginia Fire Museum Inc.

Virginia Fire Museum Inc. Welcome to the Virginia Fire Museum Inc. on Facebook! We are the Commonwealth's largest repository of firefighting history through apparatus and equipment.

Follow us as we grow and evolve into one of the nation's most comprehensive fire museums! The Virginia Fire Museum is dedicated to preserving Virginia's rich fire service history as a 501c3 tax deductible non-profit agency. Our vast collection of apparatus, equipment and photographs help tell the story of city and rural firefighting throughout the Commonwealth. No matter the size of the locality,

we strive to give proper and equal representation of their individual history and artifact preservation assistance. We are one of the very few museums that foster and embrace the true operation of apparatus in it's full capacity. This means that if it is an engine / pumper, it flows water at it's rated capacity. Yes, they are parade / show ready but they do have to stay fit for service since anything less would be a disservice. This is what separates us from most museums today, we are not a nursing home but we are a full rehabilitation center. We are always looking for new supporters, volunteers and most of all history that needs a loving home.

It was a beautiful but extremely hot day for a ride to the North Carolina Department of Transportation annual Fire Truck show. Great catching up with old and new friends Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire Museum and Education Center. Along for the ride the “Bedford Mack” rescue pumper and 2 fine examples of Ranger heavy squads. A great day minus the sweltering heat.

It has been an extremely busy but rewarding week for the VFM, definitely some firsts for us in moving trucks (see the below video). A sincere humbled heart felt thanks to those collectors that donated / loaned us their treasured pieces of firefighting history from Virginia and Maryland. Truly a remarkable past few days to say the least! Some of these as well as other pieces of classic fire apparatus will be on display in our new gallery opening this summer.

Due to several agencies reaching out about our Spring Carnival, we have decided to help in true VFM fashion. We know that many agencies struggle with fundraising and the "know how" to throw a grand fundraising event. If your department wants a carnival with no headaches, ease of planning and a wow factor midway we are here to help!

Reach out to us via our webpage and we can get the discussion started! 🎡🎠🎡🎠
