The 1826 WILLEY SLIDE IN CRAWFORD NOTCH. Just in case you haven't heard enough about it. Here's everything you might not have known. THERE IS ALSO A RARE BOOKLET narrative written by Edward Melcher and published in 1880, when he was 83. Melcher was one of the twelve men who made their way to the Willey family site and recovered their bodies. This is the only first-hand account we have seen. https://www.bartletthistory.net/willey-slide

In about 1988 The 1932 School Building was demolished. Here is a nice summary of the various school buildings in Upper Bartlett Village, beginning with "The Special School" built in 1890.

It lasted 40 years when it was destroyed by fire. A replacement was built in 1932. It survived until about 1988 when if became obsolete and was demolished for a new building. There are pictures here of that demolition. https://www.bartletthistory.net/1932-highschooldemolition

Our forefathers were an industrious and rugged lot. When faced with problems or challenges, they invented the proper tool, implement, structure, or machine to overcome the issue.
Snow essentially caused a halt to travel in rural areas of the valley, even via horseback, at times. A solution was needed, and the “snow roller” was invented. The Bartlett Historical Society found an old snow roller rotting away in Intervale and brought it back to life. It now sits in the Park at Bartlett Village, directly on Rte 302. https://www.bartletthistory.net/snowroller-bartlett-nh-historical
