We aim to provide an inclusive, multi-faceted space for the educational study of the Davies family, regional history, and rural life in early Shelby County. Davies Manor offers visitors one of the best-preserved 19th century historic sites in Shelby County. Take a docent-led tour of the Davies family’s historic home -- the oldest existing log house in the county -- to hear the history of the Davie

s family and stories about day-to-day life on a mid-size West Tennessee plantation. Browse a permanent exhibit in the home, Omitted in Mass, to learn about the enslaved people who lived at Davies Plantation and other farms owned by members of the Davies family. Next, take a self-guided tour of the surrounding grounds, which feature two frontier-style cabins, a restored commissary, and a former sharecropper’s cabin. With advanced notice, special arrangements can be made for large groups. Located adjacent to the historic property, Hillwood Hall provides an excellent venue for weddings, receptions, holiday parties and other events. The office at Hillwood is open Tuesday through Friday, 10:30 a.m.
