June 12, 1948 - Women Veterans Day commemorates the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act which allowed women to serve as permanent, regular members of the military. Prior to this act, women were only able to serve during wartime and were often excluded from veteran status and benefits.

🇺🇸 Today we honor Women Veterans Day and the brave women who have worn our nation’s uniform with strength, courage, and unwavering dedication.

At Standin’ Proud Veterans Tribute Museum, we are deeply grateful for the stories, sacrifices, and leadership of the women who have served and continue to serve. Your impact reaches far beyond the uniform and continues to inspire future generations.

🇺🇸 History Camp 2026 Recap 🇺🇸

Last week, we proudly hosted our 2nd Annual History Camp, centered around Service. Leadership. Real-World Impact.

We were honored to welcome an outstanding group of campers who learned from local veterans and dedicated volunteers. Throughout the week, participants explored the conflicts that have shaped our nation, discovered the importance of preserving veterans' stories, and gained valuable insights from those who have served.

Campers had the unique opportunity to learn firsthand about military service by:
🎤 Interviewing a Purple Heart veteran — Thank you, Charles "Chuck" Deters! (Be sure to check out Van of Valor for a full interview)
✈️ Learning about military aircraft — Thank you to The Boeing Company for helping bring aviation history to life.
🪖 Participating in military basics, including saluting and marching, led by a veteran who works with our adjacent company, Carl's Four Wheel Drive & Performance Center.

🇺🇸 A heartfelt thank you to all the veterans, volunteers, and supporters who shared their time, knowledge, and experiences to make this camp both educational and memorable. Your dedication helps inspire the next generation to appreciate the sacrifices of those who served and understand the value of service in their own communities.

Last week was a busy one with History Camp in full swing, but we were honored to take time to welcome a special group to our museum.

🇺🇸 A sincere thank you to Operation Stand Down Tennessee for stopping by for a mini tour and learning more about our mission to honor, educate, and inspire through the stories of those who have served. We are grateful for organizations like yours that work tirelessly to support veterans and their families.

Special thanks as well to Southern Bus & Mobility for making the introduction and helping connect two organizations dedicated to serving those who have served our nation.

82 years ago today, the world changed forever.

On June 6, 1944, thousands of brave Allied soldiers crossed the English Channel and landed on the shores of Normandy, France. Many never returned home, but their courage helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

At our museum, we are committed to preserving and sharing the stories of those who served so future generations can understand the sacrifices made in defense of liberty.

Today, we honor the heroes of D-Day and all who served during World War II. May their courage, service, and sacrifice never be forgotten.

This week, our History Camp campers put our camp theme into action by assembling care packages for those who have served our country. Through this service project, they learned firsthand that leadership isn't just about personal achievement—it's about serving others, showing gratitude, and making a positive impact in your community.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to:

➡️ Poettker Construction Company for serving as a collection site and providing the boxes we assembled
➡️ K&J Chevrolet for partnering as a drop-off location
➡️ Excel Bottling Company for the generous donation of Ski

Because of your support, our campers assembled 5️⃣0️⃣ care packages during camp, with many additional donated items that will continue supporting military members. This experience showed our campers the incredible impact that happens when a community comes together in service.
