In this show it focuses on his darker wares, with stoneware and porcelain clay bodies. With tight-technical throwing methods and some carved features, these pieces remain yet another stellar set of versatile pieces by Bill.

Have you stopped by Refind recently?

While Schaller Gallery houses work directly from artists, Refind features prolific works from makers both past and present. Secondary market pieces may come to us through collections, estates, or by other means. The works showcased in Refind are generally harder to come by, as the makers are oftentimes deceased. Major names in Refind include Warren MacKenzie, Michael Simon, John Glick, and many more. Both pages include very different things!

On our website, you'll see two tabs at the top: one is for Schaller Gallery, one is for Refind. Schaller Gallery hosts shows with new work every Tuesday at 2pm EST. Refind shows are every other Friday at 2pm EST. A few major collections that we have worked with include the Robert Pfannebecker Collection, the Michael Simon Estate, the Diane and Marc Grainer Collection, and the John Glick Estate. There is always new work being added, so be sure to check in often.

REFIND: Japanese Wares is live with another lineup of NEW pieces!

There are many different styles of pottery that come out of Japan. You have the earthy and textural Shigaraki wares, colorful and ornate porcelain Kutani ware, and many more. Every region is home to a different set of clay and decoration characteristics.

Today's show focuses more on the colorful styles of pottery that are produced in Japan. Ornate pieces with touches of silver and old lusters can be found here.

There are pieces by Ishara Sweeney and Mai Kitai now available!

Ishara Sweeney is a studio potter in Carbondale Colorado. With a BFA concentrating in Ceramic Arts and a BA in English literature, the two have been married together in her work ever since. Although her studies turned towards the asian arts, receiving her Masters and Doctorate in Chinese Medicine, she has not stopped exploring the vast wilderness of ceramics, with the past few years finding her immersed in the creative process in wholly new ways.

Mai Kitai was born in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa, Japan. She graduated from the Ishikawa Prefectural Kutani Ceramics Technical Training Institute in 2012 and obtained a postgraduate degree from Kanazawa College of Art in 2015. In 2014, she was awarded the Grand Prize at the Second Tenjin Festival 108 "Zojoji Modern Collection Award".
