Even if you’re not familiar with the term “en plein air,” you’ve almost certainly encountered (and admired) this painting tradition. Painting outdoors, or in open air, increased in popularity in the 1870s, when paints became available in tubes, freeing artists from the studio. This summer, look for en plein air artists as they capture the beauty of Baltimore’s Mount Vernon Place. Then this fall, you’ll have the opportunity to view—and purchase—their work at the Mount Vernon Place Plein Air Art Show on September 29, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion. Tickets are available at Baltimore Heritage: (https://bit.ly/2wHuXQr). Learn more about the history of en plein air painting with this video introduction from the Tate art institution.

This morning, the School held its annual Saints Walk. The 13-Year Club seniors dressed in their cap and gown and presented Class of 2031 shirts to our kindergarteners. The seniors then had the opportunity to retrace their steps throughout campus. Once a Saint, Always a Saint!

Happy Boston Tea Party Day! 245 years ago today, the Sons of Liberty tossed tea into Boston Harbor to protest what they believed to be unfair taxation imposed on them by the Tea Act.

Halloween night, join us for a special encore presentation and séance with National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre's Alex Zavistovich! The creator of The Poe Séance for The National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre, Alex is a “mediumistic entertainer” and a student of the paranormal. During The Poe Séance, he combines dramatic readings, a lecture on the paranormal, and demonstrations of the power of the collective unconscious with a Victorian-style séance in an attempt to make contact with the spirit world, and the spirit of Edgar Allan Poe or those connected to him.http://poefestfuneral2018encore.eventbrite.com
