The B-Side Growlers, an acoustic trio from Grand Rapids, Michigan, specializes in tradition inspired, toe-tappin’ vintage acoustic blues, jazz and country will perform August 21st on the FOLK FRIDAYS stage. Their music is characterized by a blend of classic styles, offering a festive and historically rich musical experience. The band described themselves as “tradition inspired’ giving them their identity and focus. They recognize the historical roots of their music and aim to honor and celebrate those traditions, while performing a light and engaging concert.
Mary Lewandoski provides beautiful vocals, and performs on percussion, guitar and harmonica. Her husband Pete Lewandoski plays guitar, banjo, fiddle and accompanies on vocals. The third member of the trio is Matt Porter who plays an upright bass and joins in with rich vocals. Collectively their backgrounds include a wide range of musical experiences, ranging from classic rock covers to classical chorus arrangements. Their concerts concentrate on tradition inspired music that allow them to revive some of the songs and tunes that have been passed down for prior generations. This upbeat concert will include songs that were originally intended to be dance music, so it’s only normal for feet to keep time to the beat when they play. Vintage acoustic instruments that will be showcased on stage will range from the washboard, a homegrown percussion instrument, open back banjo, upright bass and fiddle. Tradition inspired music is alive and well. . . and the B-Side Growlers enjoy being a part of it. This should be a rousing musical concert to end our 2026 season.
The FOLK FRIDAYS concert begins at 7:00 p.m. with the parking and seating area opening at 6:00 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair to sit in our seating area or remain in your car for "drive-in type seating". The concerts are held outdoors - in front of our open Boat House doors. (rain or shine).
