We've almost reached our goal! Please share and spread the word! We can't wait to help another ceramic artist with 30% of what we have raised and give it to them to support their recovery and/or share our studio and kilns with them! Thank you so much for your love and support!

Thank you everyone for your amazing support! We are halfway toward our goal! We appreciate you so much. And we can’t wait to share 30% of the proceeds with another artist to help them have a studio and kilns to use. Thank you so much!

I see now that each new work cycle begins with the same patterns. A few weeks “away”.
A loss of words, a pull into the fog…my hands like magnets.
I used to try to find some order or the right first step. These days I seem to wait it out just a little, I’m tryin not to fight it. I know I’ll get back around to the beginning of the circle and I won’t be the same person I was just a few weeks ago. You cannot step into the same river twice.

Today I briefly saw an indigo bunting. More beautiful than any pot I’ll make.
Today I broke one of my own rules, I letting go of one of my favorite pots from the last firing too soon. I barely got to see it. But I know I will see it again and I think it will go for a good cause, and I know I will try to make another one.
All of my teachers said learn the rules so you can learn to break the rules.

Wow the first went by in a flash. An honor to present among such talent and grace, a great looking cone six soda unload, a campus full of jazzed and knowledgeable participants, and the most thoughtful hosts to pull it all off. Coming home the truck felt oddly heavy but my head felt a bit lighter. The first day’s talk was ok but the second set got a little better I think 🤔. Thanks truly to all those who came out.

Small batch of small treasures listed online today at 12 noon EST

One nice thing about the work leading up to an online sale is the chance to look closely at the little details of each piece.
Another nice thing is the moment you get to walk away from the screen for just a little bit…

All work of the hand tells a story if you lean in quietly. These little dishes are nice to hold onto. Some speak of the woodfired train kiln and some of the gas fueled soda kiln…different languages but they are saying the same thing I suppose. Can you tell the difference?
These pieces and others available Online Saturday 12 noon est.

The first firing of this year was mostly about delivering stacks of bowls and getting reacquainted with my wood/gas/soda kiln. I was pleased that nearly all of the bowls made it out of the fire successfully, but really I was unloading looking for these little fellas. I’ll have a few favorites available online this weekend. Sign up for the email list for a sneak peek.

Offering Bowl, 13”x11”, hand built and wheel thrown, unglazed wood fired, 2021.
In a few weeks I’ll be getting some of my freshest works down from the top shelf, readying ourselves for an exhibition at Blue Spiral 1 - Fine Art+Craft] . It is such an amazing space and a remarkable gallery. This exhibition was planned for last year, so I’ve been thinking about it for some time. But really the story is much longer...maybe for some other day ... I still remember the first time I visited the gallery some 20 years ago. I saw the words FINE ART and FINE CRAFT right there next to each other.
