Finding Paradise 🫶

From the BMoA Permanent Collection, Collecting Paradise considers the many ways paradise can be imagined, experienced, and remembered. Through Californian landscapes, portraits, architecture, abstraction, and scenes of everyday life, it examines how artists have envisioned places of beauty, belonging, resilience, and hope.

Development, displacement, gentrification, migration, and new technologies reshape both the physical landscape and the communities within it. As neighborhoods evolve, histories may be preserved, obscured, or erased, raising questions about who is able to remain, whose stories are made visible, and what is carried forward.
