Heritage Museum & Cultural Center

Heritage Museum & Cultural Center The Baker Heritage Museum is a general history museum preserving and interpreting the history and heritage of Baker, Louisiana. No admission charge.

Open Mon-Fri, 10 am to 4 pm and other times by appointment. The Heritage Museum is housed in a early 1900's Victorian Cottage. Originally, the house had a parlor, two bedrooms with potential to add more in the attic, a formal dining room, a kitchen, a couple of closets, a butler's pantry and a bathroom. The Museum has chosen to display the rooms as a parlor, dining room, one bedroom, music room, and bathroom. The attic, the closets and butler's pantry are used as office space and storage.

Looking forward, our plans for the next few months are focused on highlighting local artists, beginning Saturday May 23 with piano students of Mrs. Velta Cross, the Lanford Family band, Litergical dancers, and Trenice Gautier on the harp. 10 am til 2 pm! Next, in July and August we're showing "A Louisiana Childhood", a collection of charming paintings - acrylics on hard board - that tell the story of the Raney family children growing up during the early 1900's in central Louisiana. We always look forward to sharing our beautiful exhibits and holiday decorations with our friends and supporters! Bring your family and your camera - there are always wonderful photo opportunities!

Memories of Paris

We are currently putting up a new exhibit of Naive Contemporary paintings titled A Louisiana Childhood. The artist, Verda Brog, is an elderly lady, who began painting late in life. The paintings are very charming, created from her memories of a childhood in central Louisiana. Come by and spend a little time looking BACK in time through this wonderfully done window on the past!
