We appreciate our friends at The Sebring Historical Society

Yesterday on we wrote about Charles R. Head Field in Avon Park - first known as Cardinal Field - the home of the National League's St. Louis Cardinals for 3 Spring Training seasons from 1927 to 1929.

Our friends over at The Jacaranda Hotel - celebrating their 100TH anniversary this year - was where many of those baseball greats of the era congregated, ate, and slept.

Just a few blocks away from the historic baseball field and historic hotel is the historic Avon Park Depot & Baseball Museum - located in-between the railroad tracks on the north side of Main Street.

Step inside and head left for a celebration of 100 years of baseball history in Avon Park - from The St. Louis Cardinals of the late-1920s to the Avon Park Red Devils of the late-2020s. What a beautiful and modern museum it is - a fantastic addition to our area's museum family.

Once you've checked out the new baseball museum wing - check out the original depot museum wing for an informative and fun look back at Avon Park history. Exhibits are updated on a regular basis, so be sure to visit often to see what's new.

Both museums - inside the same building - are open 4 days a week - Wednesdays to Saturdays - from 10 AM to 3 PM.

From small-town pride to the biggest stage in Florida high school baseball — Avon Park has built a tradition worth celebrating. ⚾️💛❤️

Over the years, Avon Park Baseball has made multiple appearances in the FHSAA State Tournament, representing our community with grit, determination, and Red Devil pride. Every trip to state reflects the hard work of players, coaches, families, and fans who believed in something bigger than themselves.

These teams didn’t just compete — they helped shape the legacy of Avon Park athletics and inspired future generations to dream bigger.

Here’s to the players who wore the jersey with pride and the community that stood behind them every step of the way. Once a Red Devil, always a Red Devil.
