Now is the time to reserve your table for our annual Paper Peddler Trivia Night, held again this year at the Rock'n Chair!

Call the History Center at 609-967-0090 to reserve a table for your team of 4-6 on Tuesday, September 1st from 7pm - 9pm.

It's always a great time and prizes are awarded, generously donated by Deb & Craig from The Paper Peddler. Light fare is provided by The Avalon History Center.

The Leaming House hotel, ca1900, located at the north end of the island on Sixth Ave. The Prospect Beer sign advertises beer from the Prospect Brewing Company of Philadelphia, which existed from 1886-1920. 🍺 Erosion would eventually force the Leaming House to close in 1912. 🌊

We have this great 8x10 aerial photo in our collection of 23rd-26th Streets from the west looking east and you can see the old 26th Street school at the left of the photo. Ocean Drive is running horizontally along the bay. The second photo shows the school circled.

The Phillips family kindly donated this safe, used in the original post office in the Smith house at 6th and Second Ave (now Dune Dr.) in the late 1900s. It is on display in our Early Avalon exhibit at the Avalon History Center. Admission is free and we are open Mon-Sat starting at 10am. Come check it out!
