Attention!! Please do not respond to anyone saying that they are selling tickets for our upcoming Homeschool Day that is SOLD OUT. That person was a scammer! We DO NOT use a physical ticketing system. The names of those who registered are taken at the door and matched up with our records. Registrations are non transferable without the acknowledgement of our office. We do have a waitlist. Please contact us if you would like to be added to it.
By the way, in the colonial era, a pillory was commonly found in the town square. This was used for punishing thieves and scammers, as well as other crimes...publicly.

As we wait for our flax harvest to dry, let's look at some of the tools that we will be using to turn it into linen.
From a flax brake to hackles to the spinning wheel, with a few more steps in between, these tools were necessary to obtain the fine hair like fibers within the stem and turn them into thread.
Each tool will be explained in more detail as the process continues throughout the year.

Here is a quote from Martha Ballard's Diary for July 29, 1788.
"Clear. I have been tending yarn to whiten & pulld Some flax also..."
