Our museum is dependent upon our volunteers! We recently had a volunteer appreciation dinner for all those who helped with the many things needed to keep our museum running. And special thank you’s were given to:
Tim Miller — Volunteer of the Year.
Jerry Muzzillo — Senior Leadership Award.
John Pontius — Board of Directors President Emeritus.
These three gentlemen have helped to grow and improve the museum in countless ways. We are forever grateful for their hard work and for their love for NATMUS. Thank you!

During this time of year, we’re collecting donations for specific items on our Wish Lists. Every dollar helps, and any amount will get your name on our Christmas Tree in the gift shop.

This year, we would like to be able to buy a portable PA system and a custom tent with our logo for events at the museum and elsewhere. Our goal is to raise $3000.

With a Donation of $100, we’ll send you a limited-edition NATMUS Ornament for your own tree!

This is Max. He is our unofficial mascot at the museum. His human is Jim Wooster who volunteers at the museum. He is a very good dog. If he brings you a tennis ball, you'd better throw it so he can chase it -- no matter how slobbery it is. Please rate Max on a scale of 1 to 10. We give him a 10.

"Recently spotted at the National Auto & Truck Museum in Auburn, Indiana, this Charger is actually more than just an early first-gen Charger that left the assembly line with a 426 HEMI under the hood. Finished in March 1966, it was Dodge's pre-announcement press car. And after it was showcased to the media for a few weeks, it was presented to Chrysler drag racer Al "Lawman" Eckstrand for overseas driving demonstrations at US Military bases.

The campaign's main goal was to convince service members to order new cars from abroad, but it was also part of Chrysler's strategy to turn Dodge into a global brand. Eckstrand, on the other hand, focused on introducing safe driving to civilians and soldiers using his experience as a drag racer. The program eventually extended beyond European borders, reaching Vietnam and other countries from the Southeast Asian war theater. Word has it that Eckstrand gave demonstrations to around 250,000 soldiers.

But the "Lawman" Charger didn't make it to Asia. After six weeks of touring in the UK, the car was left in England after Chrysler management determined that shipping it back to the US wasn't financially feasible. Eckstrand left the vehicle to a mechanic named Ian Frankland, who took care of it for over 30 years."

Chrysler first introduced the HEMI engine in 1951 and has since developed three generations of the iconic mill. The second-gen unit is by far the most le...
