– Jun 23, 2026 @ 7:00 pm: “Hello Girls”, presented by Lois Sprengnether Keel. 223 bilingual female telephone operators recruited by General John J. Pershing for the U.S. Army Signal Corps in WWI to serve in France were collectively known as the “Hello Girls”. These women operated under military discipline, wore uniforms, & were crucial to battlefield communication. Because they were classified as civilian contractors for the Army despite their critical role, they were denied veteran status until 1977.
– Jul 16, 2026 @ 7:00 pm: “The Man Behind Sims Ranch: Edwin Walter Sims”, presented by family historian Gail Sims. Especially in the 1930s through the 1950s, the sprawling compound, farm & and acreage of the Sims Ranch served as a major agricultural, economic, and social hub that provided local food and jobs.
– Aug 18, 2026 @ 7:00 pm: “The Legend of Fingerless Will Nixon” presented by fiction writer Rich Nixon & Jean Nixon of Au Gres. Richard Nixon, a storyteller with a passion for unconventional tales, offers insight into his book about the 1508-09 Scottish borderlands and the story of how Will Nixon, sadly but courageously, became fingerless.
