Settlers Museum of Southwest Virginia Celebrating the history and heritage of Southwest Virginia! The Settlers Museum of Southwest Virginia was founded in 1987. Forest Service land.

It is a nonprofit, primarily donor supported institution, located on U.S. The purpose of the museum is to tell the story of the people who settled the mountainous southwest corner of Virginia and how its unique culture was developed. Visitors discover this as they move through the museum's Visitor's Center, 1890's School and Farm.

Appalachian Life & Craft is TODAY! Open until 3pm. Come see the demonstrations of blacksmithing, weaving, cooking, and all the museum buildings. The weather is beautiful today!

LOST CAT! $500 REWARD
She got outside without her GPS tracking collar on yesterday June 9 in the afternoon. She was in the area around the museum (1322 Rocky Hollow Rd in Atkins). She lives here at the museum and we are missing her so much. Please contact us if you see her or if you may have picked her up.
