We are proud to present “Heritage Square: The Uptown Athens Historic Walking Tour” in collaboration with the Ohio History Connection’s Ohio Open Doors program. Ohio Open Doors allows stewards of historic buildings, places and spaces, to open their doors to the public for special tours and programs. All of which are FREE to attend!

The Athens Historic Landmarks Walking Tour will open its historical and ancestral doors to some of the city’s most notable and storied sites, each reflecting a unique aspect of Athens’ vibrant past and present. From restored community hubs to architectural marvels, you’ll discover fascinating histories, beautiful buildings, and the enduring spirit of Athens at every stop.

Today, we opened a wonderful new exhibit focused on Rug Hooking! This exhibit features primitive rugs created by local art enthusiasts using techniques taught by Meta Van Nostran, a retired Home Economics teacher and textile historian, with the support of the Athens County Foundation. Come in and see it when you can! It will be up until later this year!
