“This project was an attempt to combine humorous and macabre elements to produce something whimsical. My goal was the use what limited resources I had to create scenes that sparked conversation as to whether or not they were playful or eerie, and why?”

WideOpen: Excellence in Photography reflects both the enduring legacy and the evolving possibilities of lens-based photographic practice today. This year’s theme, Light + Time, foregrounds the essential elements that define the medium—light as material and time as both subject and structure.

A little magic takes a whole community! A big thank-you to Hocking Valley Bank for supporting The Dairy Barn Arts Center’s second annual Witch Walk and helping us keep this community celebration FREE!

Join us Friday, October 30, from 5:30–7:30 PM for a community costume party filled with creativity and connection!

5:30 PM Trick-or-treating on the lawn
6:30 A sunset Witch Walk along the Ora Anderson Trail
7 PM The Little Miss Molly puppet show returns!

Wear your costume, gather your favorite people, and come celebrate what we can create together. Whimsical, wonderful, and a little weird—all welcome.

Cabin Paintings, a solo exhibition by Eric Sweazy is on view now through November 29, 2026 in Chaddock + Morrow Gallery at The Dairy Barn Arts Center.

Cabin Paintings brings together a series of paintings made from Eric Sweazy’s experiences of two very different environments: the dense Appalachian landscape surrounding his new home in Glouster, Ohio, and the restless, densely layered cityscape of Los Angeles, where he lived and worked for more than a decade

Congratulations to Dan Westergren, winner of the “Best in Show” award: Sony Camera Kit

“I often visit the North and South polar regions of the globe where the summer sun rarely goes below the horizon. The polar nights became a waking dream to me. Photographically, I could not capture the wonder I felt in a world without night. So, I stepped back in time, using a cheap film camera with a plastic single meniscus lens. The result is simple views of light and shape, reproducing the dream state I feel in the polar regions.”

The Shed is a Path, a solo exhibition by Cathryn Amidei is on view now through December 13, 2026.

These woven works explore threads as paths—crossing, diverging, and gathering to form relationships within the structure of a textile. By enlarging and distorting familiar weave structures and painting the warp before weaving begins, Cathryn Amidei creates works shaped by tension, negotiation, chance, and the passage of time.
