Kirista Trask is launching a seven part series tomorrow for Astoria Open Studios Tour . The work centers on scenic moments that often can only be experienced through the passenger window of a car.

“I grew up in Oregon surrounded by landscapes that felt both grounding and alive. As a seventh-generation Oregonian, I carry a deep connection to the Pacific Northwest and its layered emotional and environmental history. The shifting weather, coastline, forests, and rivers have shaped not only my visual language but also the way I understand memory, belonging, and resilience.
I became an artist because painting gave me a way to express experiences and emotions that often felt difficult to articulate through words. “

This year we’ve invited a couple of our favorite friend artists to pop up with us. First up is Mary Martin.

Mary Martin is a transplant to the Pacific Northwest from the Shenandoah Valley. She is a cyanotype artist that prints using primarily her personal photos and natural elements. She’ll have some prints for sale and be demoing this magical printing process.

Join us July 25 and 26 from 11 am to 5 pm at 1030/1010 Duane street.
