This year's Golden Needle Quilter's quilt is here!

Our quilter's are finished with this year's quilt which will be raffled off at the 2026 Living History Fair coming up on Saturday, Sep. 19 at HHS. You can buy your tickets at the fair or ahead of time by stopping by on Tuesdays when we are open 1-3. If you know a HHS volunteer, ask them as well as they may have some available on the spot.

The first photo is of the top and the 2nd photo is the back. Beautiful fall colors just in time for the cooler weather. We'll see you there!

Leatherwork @ HHS Living History Fair, Sep. 19, 2026

Harmony's own leatherworker, Chuck Dole will be joining us again this year to demonstrate leatherwork as it would have been done, by hand, back in the late 1800s. Here you see the kids giving it a try when we had a local school visit this summer. There is something for everyone - come join us!

Century Farms cont'd - Eggleston, Bailey Hill Road

We found another Century Farm article from the 50s that were published in the Jamestown Post-Journal. This one is from July 5, 1952 and is about the Eggleston farm on Bailey Hill Road. At the time, the farm had been in the family for 118 years. The article also includes wonderful genealogical information about the Eggleston family. We've broken up the article to make it easier to read. Just scroll to the next one to continue reading.

Included in the photos is the 1881 Harmony Atlas which shows the adjoining properties owned by Seth and Myron Eggleston. They are in darker blue at the upper left hand side of the map.

HHS is fortunate to have been gifted photos of some of the people in this article; Seth and Julia Cook Eggleston, and Ray Eggleston.

The house still stands and is located at 7017 Eggleston Hill Road. (Eggleston Hill turns into Bailey Hill Road)

Happy 4th of July, 2026!

As you celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Continental Congress' adoption of the Declaration of Independence, here is a little tidbit of info you may not know. Did you know that the Continental Congress actually declared its freedom from Great Britain on July 2, 1776, not the 4th? Read more about it here and then head out and enjoy!

HELP - WE ARE IN NEED - HELP!

Summertime is (finally) here. We have 2 wonderful fellas who keep our grounds well groomed, BUT they would like a couple more people to help in a rotation of mowing grounds with a zero-turn mower. If you have some spare time to donate, we would greatly appreciate it. Contact John Brown at 716-720-3946.
