‼️ONE MORE WEEK TO APPLY‼️
Alliance Gallery is pleased to announce its 3rd Regional Juried Show, “Migration”.

Migration is a defining force of both human history and the natural world. It can be understood as movement across land and borders, shifts within ecosystems, or personal journeys of change, memory, and belonging.
This exhibition invites DC Metro Area artists (all media/ career stages) to explore migration through their own lens. Interpretations may be literal or abstract, personal or observational, historical or contemporary. Artists might consider evolving landscapes, migration patterns, changing communities, or experiences of movement, transition, and transformation. This theme could be interpreted socially or politically, or through nature and place. There is no single definition of migration, and no single way to respond.
This exhibition aims to present a dynamic and inclusive range of voices, honoring both individual expression and shared experience within the DC Metro Area.

Submission Deadline: March 2 by 5pm

Juror: Sarah Berry

Tracy Ferry’s series draws from her extensive experience as a registered nurse, offering an intimate understanding of the human body and its inner systems. Her close relationship with anatomy and microbiology informs these abstracted portraits, where the inside of the body becomes both subject and inspiration.

Connected to the theme of Holding Together, the work reflects the fragile, complex systems that sustain us beneath the surface.

Last chance to view Holding Together today, open until 6 PM.

Emily Shepardson is fascinated by the wild bees that live in her yard, a curiosity that runs through her ongoing series of prints and mixed media works. In an earlier piece, Urban Beehive, bees swarm angrily above a city. Fairyland Beehive offers a softer counterpoint.

In this work, the bees do not mix or clash. They decorate. Their separation and gentleness echo the theme of Holding Together, suggesting a quieter way of coexisting, where care, intention, and delicacy become acts of cohesion.

Last chance to view Holding Together this weekend. Open 12–6 PM.

Holding Together is also about how we hold ourselves together—through inner tension, contradiction, and vulnerability. “Body with Flies” by Rosemary Feit Covey captures the space between internal experience and external perception.

Modeled by Feit Covey’s sister—a dancer with a beautifully expressive neck—the figure became both mirror and stand-in: personal, unsettling, and universal. Though no subtext was intended, the piece powerfully invites reflection on how we see ourselves and how we are seen.

Last week to experience the exhibition!
We’re open this weekend, 12–6 PM. Don’t miss it.

Here is another powerful piece in Holding Together, highlighting inner balance, consciousness, and the quiet strength of being at ease with yourself ✨

Jennifer Wessmiller’s “Acceptance” is created entirely by hand and body impressions embodying self-acceptance and the act of fully embracing oneself. Flaws, scars, and all. The work challenges traditional beauty standards and reflects comfort in one’s own skin, free from outside judgment.

The exhibition is on view until January 11. Make sure to stop by!

Have you seen at Alliance Gallery yet? ✨

One of the largest and most powerful works we’ve ever exhibited, Julia Dzikiewicz’s Women’s March captures the energy and courage of the historic protest on January 21, 2017 — the day after President Trump’s inauguration. Between 3 and 5 million people joined marches across the U.S., making it one of the largest protests in American history.

This painting centers on Alicia Keys taking a stand against oppression, flanked by veteran activist Gloria Steinem and six-year-old Sophie Cruz, the youngest speaker at the Washington rally.

Don’t miss the chance to experience this incredible piece in person. Stop by Alliance Gallery while it’s on view!
