Charlie Kennedy was part of a recent Arlington Art and Culture discovery day at the gallery. We presented four Artist Talks featuring Martha Sue Meek, Laura Hunt, Court Bailey, and Charlie Kennedy. Charlie's talk took us on a journey to Big Bend. He shared information about the artists who inspired him to paint. Most of his inspiration has come from over 50 trips to this iconic Texas destination. He spends time there waiting until the sky, sun, and clouds come together to be captured by Charlie's brush. Come experience Charlie’s art in person.

What inspires an artist? Where does creativity begin?

Our recent "Artist Talks" at The Upstairs Gallery brought together Martha Sue Meek, Laura Hunt, Charlie Kennedy, and Court Bailey for an afternoon of conversation and creative insight.

Each artist offered a unique perspective on their work, sharing the ideas, experiences, and moments that influence their creative process. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the artists behind the artwork and gain a deeper appreciation for their craft. Martha Sue presented a "lesson" on her use of color and texure.

The gallery just finished our Summer Art Camp for kids. Guaranteed creativity and fun all in a three day camp, with new art projects each day!
Art Camp is held in July and we look forward to seeing you next summer.

The Upstairs Gallery is pleased to welcome watercolorist, David Tripp to our family of artists. His work is on display in the gallery now! Residing in Texas since 1977, he draws his watercolor subjects from a host of “recollections” involving cities, small towns and rural stretches throughout the Midwest and Southwest, particularly historic Route 66. David's journey has included 28 years as a teacher in Arlington I.S.D. With retirement, David continues to paint and share his talents through art events and workshops. We know you will enjoy exploring David's work!
