🕊️ The entertainment world has lost a true original. Tim Curry passed away peacefully at his Los Angeles home on August 25, 2026. He was 80 years old. Few performers possessed his extraordinary combination of theatrical confidence, mischievous humour and unforgettable screen presence.

Born in Cheshire, England, on April 19, 1946, Curry studied English and drama at the University of Birmingham. His defining breakthrough came when he created the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the original 1973 London production of The Rocky Horror Show. He later brought the character to the screen in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, creating a performance that became part of pop-culture history.

Horror fans will forever remember Curry as Pennywise in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s It. With his gleeful smile, unpredictable humour and sudden flashes of menace, he made Pennywise one of the genre’s most unforgettable villains. He also brought his singular energy to Clue, Legend, Home Alone 2, Muppet Treasure Island and many animated productions.

After suffering a major stroke in 2012, Curry faced serious physical challenges but continued working, appearing at conventions and connecting with the fans who adored him. His talent crossed theatre, film, television, music and voice acting, leaving behind a body of work unlike anyone else’s.

One of Tennessee’s most eerie experiences is walking through the Historic Scott County Jail in Huntsville, where an old stone lockup still holds the heavy, unsettling feel of its past. Built in 1904 from locally quarried sandstone, this three-story jail stands near the historic courthouse square and remains one of Scott County’s oldest buildings. Its thick walls were made with massive sandstone blocks, and the first floor once included the jailer’s quarters, while a third level was added in 1922 for maximum-security prisoners.

Inside, visitors can explore the booking room, offices, holding cells, iron doors, narrow stairways, and dark cell blocks where inmates were once kept. The self-guided audio tour shares stories tied to Scott County crime, punishment, law enforcement, and the people who passed through the jail over the years. The building held around 50 inmates during its time in use and did not close for good until 2008, when the newer Scott County Justice Center opened. Today, the jail operates as a true crime and law enforcement museum, with exhibits spread across all three floors. During the day, it is already a chilling step back in time, but after dark, the experience gets even more intense with flashlight tours, guided ghost hunts, and private paranormal investigations for those brave enough to stay inside after the lights go down.
