While not as good news as the new J&J vaccine, we do want to let you know that the Gallery’s March-April show opens Saturday, March 6th. Two of the highlights of the show will be the work of our newest member, Marilu Del Carpio, and a number of pieces from members of the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild (NVHG).
Marilu is originally from Peru and, upon retirement, discovered the joy of jewelry making. She works mostly with wire (coiling, bending, knitting, crochet, weaving, and macramé) but, also challenges herself doing Kumihimo, stamping, and cold connections.
Her inspiration often comes from the materials that she uses, as well as her cultural background, evidenced thru the replication of Inka tools, shapes, and textiles and her travels, seen in the use Celtic and Chinese symbols after visits to Ireland and China. (See below)
NVHG, one of our member guilds, represents an eclectic mix of local artist representing of 11 craft areas. You are sure to find many pieces you will treasure from these artists.
PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW HOURS: Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
