A masterful blend of form and tradition. This breathtaking contemporary pottery basket by Hopi artist Stetson Setalla is a true testament to the enduring legacy of Pueblo ceramics.

Using ancestral techniques passed down through generations, Setalla hand-coils his vessels from native clay gathered directly from the Hopi mesas. This unique basket shape offers a beautiful canvas for his precise linework, featuring geometric hatching and swirling motifs painted in traditional black and terracotta-red slips. The warm, blush-toned finish is the result of authentic outdoor sheep-dung firing, making every piece entirely one-of-a-kind. Where the ocean meets the desert. 🌊🏜️ These stunning Contemporary Spiny Oyster Circle Earrings were handcrafted by the talented Joe Calabaza of the Santo Domingo (Kewa) Pueblo.

The Kewa people are historically celebrated for their masterful lapidary work and shell carving—a legacy that stretches back centuries. Calabaza honors this deep-rooted tradition by taking raw, vibrant spiny oyster shell and expertly polishing it into these perfectly smooth, modern circular dangles. The way the iridescent, pearlescent silver-grey tones mix with the fiery oranges and deep reds is absolutely mesmerizing. A stunning representation of heritage and the earth!A tall, contemporary Navajo clay sculpture by Nanezbah (Nora) Yazzie against a solid black background. The figure is made of unpainted, natural buff-colored clay. The torso is sculpted to resemble an ear of corn with distinct, rounded kernels, while the edges of the clay flare out around the body like open corn husks. The figure has a human face with an open mouth and wears a genuine, multi-strand turquoise and red coral beaded necklace, along with small turquoise and red earrings. The sculpture rests on a fluted, circular clay base. This incredible Navajo/Dine Contemporary Sculpture by Nanezbah (Nora) Yazzie beautifully blends the human form with the essence of nature. For Yazzie, creating is a way of life deeply rooted in Navajo tradition.

Drawing inspiration from the natural shapes and formations of the land, this piece elegantly integrates a textured corn motif wrapped in flowing, husk-like folds of clay. Woven from the landscape itself. 🌵 This beautiful vintage coiled basket was crafted by a weaver from the Tohono O’odham Nation (formerly known as Papago).

The Tohono O'odham—which translates to the "Desert People"—have a rich, centuries-old tradition of basketry, utilizing the hearty plants of the Sonoran Desert. This deep bowl features a classic coiled construction, likely utilizing a foundation of bear grass stitched tightly with bleached yucca and striking, dark brown Devil’s Claw to create its bold, stepped geometric pattern. A stunning piece of functional art and Southwest history! 🧺

A beautiful circle of tradition. This contemporary Storyteller Jar by Clifford Kim Fragua (Jemez Pueblo) is a wonderful fusion of two distinct Pueblo art forms.

While storyteller figures are usually standalone sculptures, Fragua has intricately attached three beautifully sculpted women to the rim of this vessel. They hold hands in a continuous circle of community, overlooking the stunning black-and-white geometric and foliate designs painted on the jar's body. A truly unique piece that celebrates connection and heritage! 🏺🤍

A masterpiece of modern Pueblo pottery. This incredible contemporary Wedding Vase by Phyllis M. Tosa (Jemez Pueblo) takes a traditional form and turns it into a multi-dimensional canvas.

Tosa has masterfully carved out the front of the vase to create an open diorama, revealing a painted sun face and stepped mountain motifs hidden inside. The exterior is just as stunning, featuring traditional feather patterns, a detailed basket-weave base, and a beautifully sculpted butterfly resting on the bridge. A beautiful example of contemporary Hopi carving. This "Long Hair" (Angak'china) Kachina is the work of artist Eddie Komalestewa. In Hopi culture, the Long Hair Kachina is a beloved spirit and a singer of sweet songs whose purpose is to bring gentle, life-giving rains and spring flowers to the mesas. 🌧️

In this contemporary piece, Komalestewa utilizes the natural, cylindrical shape of the wood, accenting it with bold geometric blocks of green, yellow, red, and blue while intentionally leaving the warm, natural wood grain exposed. A perfect blend of traditional spiritual meaning and modern artistic interpretation.
