Railroaders Memorial Museum

Railroaders Memorial Museum The Railroaders Memorial Museum is an interactive museum

Special Statement
May 15, 2020
From the Desk of Joseph A. DeFrancesco, Executive Director:

As we rise to occasion to meet the challenges of COVID-19, we are looking forward the day we can get back to normal operations.

In the meantime, our employees are preparing us for the day we can open. We have adopted a plan to stage our opening gradually. We have not decided on a date at this moment. It will rely on the region of Central Pennsylvania going into the Green Phase of the Commonwealth’s color-coded reopening plan.

When entering the Green Phase, we will announce the opening of the Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark. We can tell you we will not be operating 7 days per week at first. We will gradually extend our hours to meet the demands of our visitation. When we open, our staff and visitors will follow social distancing and CDC/Department of Health guidelines.

The process of shutting down businesses and reopening them are very delicate manners. Both actions require the museum to conserve its resources.

Due to the nature of the CDC guidelines and the level of interactive displays at the Railroaders Memorial Museum we will be opening the museum at a later date than the Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark’s reopening.

We are working with our event partners to best serve you. Event alterations will be announced.

We will announce all updates as information becomes clearer in the coming days.

We wish you and your loved ones the best of health.

Please consider buying a membership to help us weather this storm.

Thank you for your support!

I love the PRR, because my Grandfather retired from the Juniata shops. He repaired, and installed the boilers on the K4. I tried to get a job in the same shop when the Genesis were coming out 20+ years ago. It would have been awesome to work in the same shop as my grandfather did.
Could we get an update on the #1361 please.
