******IMPORTANT PLEASE READ*****
It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the closure of the Descanso, Alpine & Pacific Railway. After 27 years of weekly public rides, Mr. Athey has decided to discontinue operation as a result of his age and the heavy burden that naturally comes with maintaining a full size narrow gauge railroad. As of 10/25/2017, no further public rides will be offered. The railroad in its entirety, including the locomotive and rolling stock, have been donated to the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum. This exchange has been in the making for a few years now and the museum is accepting the donation with great enthusiasm. The PSRMA volunteers are now well into the process of moving the equipment and rail to their museum facility in Campo. We look forward to working with the museum on the construction of a new exhibit and train ride utilizing the former Descanso, Alpine & Pacific equipment on the museum property. On behalf of Mr. Athey, I would like to thank all our visitors and friends for your tremendous support of this little operation over the years. We would like to remind everyone that what is left of the railroad is located on a private residence and out of consideration for the Athey family, we ask that you do not enter the property without prior permission. Again, we regret to deliver this heartfelt news and thank you all for a great 27 years of operation.
