See authentic arms and armor worn and used by Grecians, Romans, Dark Age Warriors, Vikings, Crusader Knights, and Renaissance "Knights in Shining Armor."

Swiss Heritage Days is this weekend in Alma. The museum will have a booth at the 3G Gallery on Saturday (7/28) from 10am - 4pm. We'll have chainmail and surcoats for kids to try on and be talking about Swiss pikeman and halberdiers. The museum itself will be open from 1-4pm.

Come to Alma Wisconsin for the weekend to experience Swiss culture and help us celebrate our town's unique heritage! Restaurants and other vendors offer Swiss food items such as cheese fondue, zopf muesliand, baumkuchen, berner platte and kalbsbratwurst.

Sarah Groth won the Holy Grail contest at yesterday's Fire in the Shire event in Alma. She found the "grail" at eight participating shops and had her name drawn at the Castle. In addition to getting to keep the one "true" grail, she received 100 Alma Dollars to spend in the shops of the shire!

Fire in the Shire will kick off Saturday morning with a 9am Meet & Greet with coffee and donuts at the Alma Hotel Restaurant and Bar followed by a knightly parade at 10am that will wind its way up to the Castle. (weather permitting)

The parade will marshal on River Street, cross the Great River Road by the Alma Hotel, head up Elm Street which turns into Orange Street, and then down 2nd Street to Castlerock Museum across from the Courthouse. (Keep in mind, 2nd Street will be closed to vehicle traffic in front of the museum.)

Visitors can search for the “Holy Grail” at participating shops during tomorrow's Fire in the Shire event to enter a drawing to win the treasured artifact along with $100 Alma Dollars. Entry cards need to be stamped by 8 businesses and turned in at the Castle before the 4:15pm drawing.

We'll have two groups of Morris dancers at our Fire in the Shire event on Saturday, June 9th. Morris dancing is a type of English folk dance that goes back hundreds of years. Uptown-on-the-Lakes will be at the city lot across from the lock and dam at 1 & 3pm. General Hardware Border Morris will be traveling between the shops of the Shire in the afternoon and doing a short performance at the Castle at 4:20pm.

Kate McWilliams with "Unprofitable Instruments" will be joining us for our Fire in the Shire event on Saturday, June 9th. She will be performing medieval dance tunes on medieval fiddles and discussing the craft of medieval instrument making. The program will be at 2pm in the museum theater.
