Meet Agnes Northrop, the woman who designed our iconic Tiffany windows.

Tiffany Studios (American, 1902–1932), design attributed to Agnes Northrop (American, 1857–1953), “Thompson Memorial Window,” 1913, and “Derr Memorial Window,” 1919, leaded Favrile glass. Learn about Allentown’s role in the American Revolution on a new Historical Walking Tour! First stop is the Allentown Art Museum, where you can view “Revolution Retold” through Sunday and always see artworks by iconic American artists such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Keith Haring, Faith Ringgold, and Franz Kline. In this print, Faith Ringgold creates a stark contrast between the comfortable workspace where Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence and the dark cell from which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail.” Much like the Declaration, King’s letter emphasizes the need to respond to injustice with timely action; it became a foundational text of the Civil Rights Movement.

It’s national Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrating the history, culture, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. On view in Trexler Hall are three pieces on loan from , made possible by that celebrated Taíno culture. We’re wrapping up our Verano Vibrante (vibrant summer) programming, but we still have lots of bilingual workshops and tours.
