The Mack Trucks Historical Museum is hiring for Part Time Ambassadors (In-Direct Hire). If you have an enthusiastic & outgoing personality, a passion for learning & history, and want to get your steps in, then this is the team for you!
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
• Visitor Engagement: Greeting guests, providing a welcoming environment, and answering questions about exhibitions
• Interpretation & Education: Researching, learning, and interpreting the museum’s collection to help visitors gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of our subject matter
• Assisting Staff: Supporting special events, programs, and sometimes aiding in the monitoring and preservation of collections
• Active Learning: Using inquiry-based techniques, storytelling, and interactive methods to engage audiences rather than just lecturing
• Conducting Tours: Leading guided tours (approx. 1 - 1.5 hours) for small and large groups, including school children and VIPs
Key Requirements and Qualifications:
• Communication Skills: Enthusiastic public speaking abilities and comfort communicating with diverse audiences of all ages
• Training Commitment: Willingness to undergo training, and "shadow" experienced docents
• Flexibility & Reliability: Availability to meet scheduled commitments during weekends hours
• Passion for Learning: A strong desire to learn about the museum's subject matter
• Background Check: Required for roles involving work with children
