Alburtis - Lockridge Historical Society

Alburtis - Lockridge Historical Society ALHS was formed in 1976 by a small group of individuals to preserve the local history. The Society calls home the former Lock Ridge Presbyterian Church.

The mission of the Alburtis Lockridge Historical Society is to collect, preserve and exhibit photographs, artifacts and documents for displays and research of Alburtis The borough of Alburtis was incorporated in 1913 by the joining of two boroughs, Alburtis & Lock Ridge. The Alburtis-Lock Ridge Historical Society began in 1976, the year of our country's bicentennial. We are a group to preserve the

history of the villages of Alburtis and Lock Ridge. Museum possessions include the church's cornerstone, keepsakes from businesses and former businesses and many old photographs, including nearly 100 from 1906. Tours are available by appointment only. We are a small group of only about 12 individuals. We are always looking to increase our membership to expand our membership rolls & revitalize the organization.

Plan ahead and sign up for a historic walking tour of Hokendauqua on Saturday, April 25, with our friends at Whitehall Historical Preservation Society.

The village of Hokendauqua was established in 1854 to house the workers of the Thomas Iron Company, which played a pivotal role in igniting the American industrial revolution. Stroll through the neighborhood, see the workers' housing and learn which homes were once occupied by the Thomas Family. Find out what other businesses were operating at that time. What connection did the Thomas Iron Company have with the First Presbyterian Church and the building currently occupied by Growing Tree Child Care Center?

Hello Friends of the Alburtis Lockridge Historical Society,
This is a reminder that we will be meeting on Thursday, 3/26/26, at 7:00pm at Lockridge Church, located on the corner of Franklyn and Church Sts. In Alburtis. We will start at the church, check out the space and the artifacts and then go to Borough Hall, (The church does not have heat or water at this time!), for a short video and a Q&A on the 250 Birthday of our nation and what we can do to be part of the celebration!
We will have a list if discussion points from last months meeting at the church.

What happened to the Justice Bell? Lower Macungie Township Historical Society invites you to find out this Saturday. Celebrate Women's History Month and enjoy a screening of Finding Justice: The Untold Story of Women’s Fight for the Vote.
